Start Microphone Detection
Click the microphone button to enable real-time pitch detection. Play a string and watch the tuning meter respond instantly.
Tips: For best results, tune in a quiet environment and play one string at a time
Tune Each String
Adjust your string until the needle centers in the green zone. A checkmark appears when the string is in tune, and you'll hear a pleasant chime.
Tips: Tune from low to high strings. The meter shows green (in tune), yellow (close), or red (far off)

Our tuner uses the YIN algorithm, which provides accuracy within ±1 cent (1/100 of a semitone). This is professional-grade accuracy suitable for studio recording and live performance. The tuner considers you 'in tune' when within ±5 cents of the target pitch.
We support guitar (6-string standard), bass (4-string standard), ukulele (soprano/concert/tenor standard GCEA), violin, and chromatic mode for any instrument. Chromatic mode detects any pitch and shows you the nearest note, perfect for alternative tunings or unusual instruments.
Make sure you've granted microphone permission in your browser. Try playing closer to your device's microphone, tune in a quiet environment, and play one string at a time with a clear, sustained tone. Low-quality microphones may struggle with bass frequencies.
Green means you're in tune (within ±5 cents). Yellow means you're close but need slight adjustment. Red means you're significantly sharp (too high) or flat (too low). The needle position shows exactly how far off you are - left is flat, right is sharp.
Yes! Our tuner works on any device with a microphone and modern web browser - smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. No app download is required. For best results on mobile, hold your phone close to your instrument while tuning.
Chromatic mode detects any pitch without being locked to specific strings. Use it for alternative tunings (Drop D, DADGAD, Open G), instruments we don't have presets for, or to check the intonation of fretted notes across the neck.
Switch to the Manual tab and click any string button to play its reference tone. Listen to the pure tone and tune your string to match. This trains your ear and works in noisy environments where microphone detection may struggle.
When you successfully tune all strings on your instrument, you'll see a celebration dialog with a summary of all tuned notes. Each tuned string is marked with a green checkmark, and you'll hear a pleasant completion sound. You can then choose to tune again or close the dialog.
